Indy area starts 0-2 in Football State Championship

1 year later same results, but much closer as Lafayette Central Catholic defaeats Scecina 14-0 to capture the 1A State title. Last year the Knights ran by the Crusaders 38-7, but this year it was a defensive battle. Knights score twice in second half to win 4th straight 1A title. Coach Kevin O'Shea becomes first Indiana coah to win four consecutive state titles.


Scecina's David Tarver could onld only grind out 43 yards on 12 carries.



2A
Mr. Football front runner and Notre Dame recruit Jaylon Smith ran for 150 yards as Fort Wayne Bishop Luers scored the first 27 points  in their 40-28 victory over #1 Cardinal Ritter. Smith a top rated linebacker was equally effective on defense as he had 4 tackles and a sack. Ritter Coach Ty Hunt stated  we had our chances, but getting in a 27-0 hole was the difference in the game.
