Is Lawrence Central the "Real Deal" ?
5A #6 Lawrence Central Bears (2-0) will host Conference Indiana foe Perry Meridian Falcons (1-1) this Friday. The Bears are off to a great start averaging 52.5 points per game and only giving up 3 points total so far this season. The Bears opened the season by routing township rival Lawrence North (70-0) and then beating up on North Central (38-3). LC's offense grounded out 340 yards rushing last week against North Central. The Bears are led by a host of gifted players most notably Ohio State recruit 6'4 320 offensive lineman Tim Gardner who is making the holes for the potent run game. Defensively the Bears are led by defensive end Derrick Dunlap and linebacker Deshai Powell both key contributors to a stingy unit.
The up and coming Perry Meridian Falcons are coming off an impressive 41-15 win against Decatur Central a win that helped them forget about the 68-15 week one lost to Center Grove. The Falcons will look to use their spread offensive attack led by quarterback Conner Smith's 436 yards passing and 4 touchdowns through the first 2 weeks.
From my perspective look for LC to run away with another victory and prove that they are real contenders in 2012.
